Risk Management Lessons from the MF Global Collapse: PRMIA Webinar Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at 12 p.m. U.S. Eastern Time
The collapse of MF Global uncovered many issues unforeseen by its customers and the investment community. Customers and industry participants were caught off-guard when the company filed for bankruptcy in October 2011. How did this happen? This presentation will provide a narrative of the events leading up to the collapse and its aftermath.

Part I of this presentation provides an overall narrative of events and concludes with lessons learned thus far. Part II of the presentation gives an in-depth analysis of the events leading up to the collapse of MF Global and several aspects of its ad hoc aftermath, including:
  • The Warning Signs in 2007 and 2008
  • The Warning Signs in 2010 and 2011
  • The Exact Nature of Futures Customer Protections in U.S. Futures Markets
  • The Final Week of MF Global
  • The Ad Hoc Aftermath
Participants will also learn about the current ambiguities in customer protections for futures customers along with the reforms that are being proposed to address these ambiguities.

In addition, participants will be brought up-to-date on how the MF Global collapse is currently being handled by the industry, regulators, and bankruptcy trustees.

The webinar will last 60 to 75 minutes.
