Alternative Investments Sound Practices for Hedge Fund Managers 30 July, 2008 - Los Angeles, USA
In response to the President's Working Group on Financial Markets' (PWG) call for the hedge fund industry to adopt best practice standards, the Managed Funds Association (MFA) and its members have recently completed a comprehensive update of its influential publication, Sound Practices for Hedge Fund Managers. The objective of Sound Practices is to strengthen business practices of the hedge fund industry through a strong framework of internal policies and practices.

Sound Practices provides recommendations for establishing standards of excellence in virtually every aspect of business. MFA has revised Sound Practices in cooperation with international organizations that share the PWG and MFA's goal of providing market participants with a framework of uniform principles and guidance for the global hedge fund industry.

This seminar will provide hedge fund managers and investors in Southern California with an overview of the latest improvements to MFA's Sound Practices, including updated guidance on risk management, valuation, code of ethics, documentation policies and controls, counterparty relationships, use of third parties, regulatory compliance and AML policies, as well as discussing the finer points of a robust due diligence process, including a review of MFA's new Institutional Investor Due Diligence Questionnaire.

Timothy Spangler, Partner, Kaye Scholer LLP, and Research Associate with the EDHEC Risk and Asset Management Research Centre will be moderating the "Sound Practices Highlights" session which will provide an overview of the latest expansion of and improvements to MFA's Sound Practices including updated guidance on risk management, valuation, code of ethics, documentation policies and controls, counterparty relationships, use of third parties, regulatory compliance and AML policies.
