Personal Finance Could Financial Driving Licenses Help Households Avoid Investment Mistakes? 5 November, 2014 - Singapore
An evening presentation

At a special presentation in Singapore on 5 November, 2014, Chris Firth, Chief Executive Officer of an online financial adviser based in Singapore and candidate in the EDHEC-Risk Institute PhD in Finance, will present new insights on the behaviour and investment mistakes of households.

Requiring individual investors to get financial driving licenses has been suggested as a means to allowing individuals to make better informed decisions about their finances and investments. The dissertation work of Mr Firth investigates whether such legally mandated financial driving licenses could help households avoid financial mistakes and examines implications. Using a unique data set, he looks at the relationship between the investment outcomes of households and their financial acumen as assessed by an embryonic financial driving license.
