Allocation The Use of EuroMTS Trackers in Institutional Investment 24th March 2004 - Paris, France

A conference organised by Edhec and Euronext

The EuroMTS Global Master Unit tracker and its associated maturity band trackers provide institutional investors with a set of easy-to-use and inexpensive investment supports for bond management in the Euro zone.

To this end, Edhec, with the support of Euronext, has carried out a study on the advantages of using these financial instruments, not only in economic terms, but also for implementing a risk management process and active portfolio allocation.

More precisely, Edhec explains in detail the advantages of the EuroMTS trackers within the framework of a core-satellite approach to bond portfolio management. The methods presented to support Edhec's analysis are in keeping with both a passive allocation perspective for the core part, corresponding to strategic choices or constraints, and an active allocation dimension for the satellite.

Finally, by proposing to manage the core and satellite proportions dynamically, Edhec showed that it was possible to increase the benefits in terms of the out-performance of active allocation, whilst at the same time controlling the relative risk of the global management of the portfolio in relation to its benchmark.

All of this research has been incorporated in a publication that will be presented for the first time at this event in Paris.
