EDHEC-Risk Days Asia 2013
15-16 May, 2013 - Singapore
Bringing Research Insights to Investment Professionals

Overview
In 2004, EDHEC-Risk Institute introduced a new type of conference aiming to bring research insights to investment professionals. These events present the research undertaken by EDHEC-Risk Institute and discuss their implications and applications with the institutional investment and wealth management communities.
The conferences enable participants to have access to the latest conceptual advances and research results in investment and risk management and to discuss their implications and applications with researchers who combine expertise of advanced financial techniques with a sound awareness of their industry relevance.
In 2012, the Institute exported its conference concept to Asia in order to provide Asia-based finance professionals with easier access to state-of-the-art research in investment and risk management and to establish a dialogue around research results with particular relevance to investors and institutions in Asia.
The inaugural EDHEC-Risk Days Asia attracted over 800 participants from 28 countires over 4 continents, ranging from end-investors, traditional and alternative investment managers, wealth managers, investment bankers, and policy-makers.
Building on this success, EDHEC-Risk Days Asia 2013 will be held on 15-16 May, 2013 at the Ritz-Carlton, Millenia in Singapore.
The event will include two major conferences with two exclusive fora, multiple plenary and stream sessions and workshops that will allow professionals to review major industry challenges, explore state-of-the-art investment techniques and benchmark practices to research advances.
"The topics of the conference, caliber of the speakers and level of attendees demonstrated a great success for this EDHEC-Risk event. Congratulations for a job well done! I certainly look forward to another great event next year!"
Kevin Chen, Pan Asia Chief Investment Officer, Axa Rosenberg |

Programme
A distinctive and exclusive format: Unbiased, academic content
"I enjoyed the academic rigour. This contrasts greatly to run-of-the-mill conferences where speakers do not have depth and are usually not well prepared for their topics."
David T.M. Ng, Managing Director, Head of Markets Sales/Coverage, UBS |
Each day, the conference will open with an exclusive forum at which leading figures from the investment industry and senior officers of supervisory authorities will discuss ongoing regulatory initiatives that will impact the future of investing.
On the first day, the Indexation and Passive Investment Conference will explore enhanced index and optimal benchmark construction, look at new forms of indices and benchmarks for equities and bonds and discuss new trends in indexing vehicles. Results of exclusive indexing surveys will compare the latest usages of indices and investor perceptions in Asia, Europe and North America. The Indexing Forum will address questions of transparency and governance linked to the development of alternative and strategy indices.
On the second day, the Global Institutional Investment Conference will present the results of EDHEC-Risk Institute research on themes of great interest to institutional investors, including new approaches to asset-liability management and dynamic asset allocation, the role of alternative investments and infrastructure assets in asset allocation as well as policy issues affecting capital markets and the fund management industry. The Pensions Forum will look at the development and reform of retirement provision systems in Asia and at the role the investment industry can play in meeting the challenges posed by ageing populations.

The EDHEC-Risk conference format provides an unrivalled platform for industry practitioners and academic representatives to meet and exchange views on the current topics of most relevance to the investment management industry. This unique research is produced by the professors and researchers from EDHEC-Risk Institute, allowing results to be compared with the practices and needs of investment professionals. EDHEC-Risks independence, the original approach, which leaves time for both instruction and discussion during conference sessions, and the highly selective speaker panel, make the EDHEC-Risk Days series of conferences the must-attend annual event for investment professionals who are concerned about maintaining best practices, in both technical and conceptual terms.
The most significant benefit of the academic approach to our conferences is the promotion of learning through research and thought leadership. The result of this approach is the presence of a significant number of key decision makers who tend to avoid events built around successions of sales pitches. This non-commercial approach is reinforced by the limited number of industry sponsors that support each event. While the visibility of each sponsor remains extremely high amongst the delegates, there is no sense of over-presence of sales representatives to distract from the conference proceedings and quality networking.
Due to its academic and not-for-profit nature, the circuit of conferences organised by EDHEC-Risk Institute has always prioritised the quality of the audience, rather than its quantity. The audience is notable for the presence of representatives from sovereign wealth funds and central banks, insurance companies, foundations and pension funds and for the high-ranking positions held by the delegates. The inaugural EDHEC-Risk Days Asia brought together delegates from 28 countries and 4 continents.
