EDHEC-Risk study on non-financial risks produced with the support of CACEIS to be discussed at French Asset Management Association workshop in June

On 5 June, 2012 at a workshop organised in Paris by the AFG, the French Asset Management Association, a panel of industry representatives will be discussing the results of the recent EDHEC-Risk Institute study entitled "Shedding Light on Non-Financial Risks - a European Survey", produced as part of the "Risk and Regulation in the European Fund Management Industry" research chair at EDHEC-Risk Institute in partnership with CACEIS.
The theme of the workshop will be "Is it possible to reach a consensus on the correct management of non-financial risks and the related responsibilities?" and will analyse the proposals and responses with regard to the improvement of non-financial risk management provided by the survey’s 160 respondents, representing European fund managers, investors, regulators and consultants.
The workshop will be moderated by Christophe Lepitre, Deputy Managing Director, OFI Asset Management, and chair of AFG’s risk committee. The panel members will be:
- Stéphane Blanchoz, Chief Investment Officer, Alternative Fixed Income & Structuring, BNP Paribas Asset Management
- Jean-Marc Eyssautier, Chief Compliance Officer, CACEIS
- Denis Faller, Managing Partner, Rothschild et Cie Gestion
- Bertrand Merveille, Head of Compliance, Financière de l’Echiquier
The survey analyses the views of European fund industry professionals on non-financial risk and performance in a changing regulatory framework. It analyses the risks those in the industry face as a result of regulation and of their practices, assesses their importance and impact in terms of solvency and business models, and proposes methods to attenuate them. The results show that at the top of the list of concerns are transparency, information and governance, followed by the financial responsibility of the fund management industry. The survey also covers themes such as restitution and depositary liabilities, distribution and judicial powers of investors.
