An initial analysis of admissions to the EDHEC-Risk Institute PhD in Finance for the next academic year

The two doctoral students joining the residential track of the programme have an average age of twenty-six and come from India and Russia. They have master’s degrees – in finance, financial engineering and system analysis and management. They have undergraduate degrees from Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (Russia) and University of Karlsruhe (Germany). They have experience working in investment banking and database management.

The average age of the nineteen executive track professionals is forty and they average sixteen years of experience. Five are chief executives and/or chairs, four are managers, three are risk officers, three are investment managers, two are heads of units and two are portfolio managers. Four continents and fifteen nationalities are represented: 42% of these participants work in Europe, 26% in North America, 21% in Asia, and 11% in the Middle East.

Nine participants work in investment management, four in financial services, two in investment banking, one in real estate, one in downstream B2B, one in healthcare and one in wealth management.

These practitioners have solid academic backgrounds. They completed first degrees in finance (5), science and engineering (3), mathematics and physics (3), business (2), humanities (2) and economics (1).

They hold graduate degrees in finance (16), business administration (4), sciences and engineering (3), mathematics (2), economics (2) and humanities (1). These master’s degrees are from such institutions as University of Reading (UK), Boston College (USA), Harvard University (USA), Bocconi University (Italy), UC Berkeley Haas School of Business (USA), Stern School of Business, New York University (USA), University of Toronto (Canada), and National University of Singapore.

The final deadline to submit the application file for the executive track is September 16, 2011 (Asia-based programme).

The number of seats in the programme is limited in order to guarantee the quality of teaching and research supervision.
